Nanopowders are solid powders of nanoparticles. These agglomerates can be redispersed using, for example, ultrasonic processing. These dispersions can be used as-is, or diluted with suitable (compatible) solvents. Some surface-functionalized nanoparticles (for example silver and gold) are available as solutions in water or organic solvents. These are “true” solutions, which should not settle or phases separate if properly stored.
Nanoparticle dispersions are suspensions of nanoparticles in water or organic solvents.
They often contain micron-sized nanoparticle agglomerates. Nanoaprticles in dispersions can sometimes settle upon storage, in which case they can be mixed before use. NanoCeramic powders – single phase or two phase mixtures of Y2O3, CaO, TiO2, SnO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, ZrO2-x mol% Y2O3, Fe2O3, and ZnO – with a wide range of powder properties can be manufactured using our proprietary process.
A complex nanopowder is a nanopowder where each individual particle is composed of a complex chemical compound. Such compounds have two or more different cations (positively charged elements) in their chemical formula. An example of a complex compound is calcium titanate (CaTiO3).
As part of our nano-initiative, KFO France Co. Ltd. has synthesized ceramic nanopowders using a nano-powder synthesis process that results in very high purity, high-quality, un-agglomerated, high surface area, nanocrystalline ceramic powders.
